The Program
The Toronto International Festival of Authors (TIFA) partnered with the Toronto Arts Council (TAC on Toronto Lit Up: a multi-year initiative designed to spotlight Toronto-based writers and empower them with career-building opportunities.
The Problem
Lack of/low funding from Publishers for book launches for up-and-coming Writers in Toronto. Writer's were often paying for their book launches out-of-pocket. Toronto Lit up provided advertising, funding that could be used towards book launches and the option of booking a venue at Harbourfront Centre through TIFA.
Results
- Surpassed our initial target of 12 book launches each year. We hosted 77 launches in two years and supported over 120 authors.
